Senior Citizens' social afternoon

Buncrana Senior Citizens' Committee Annual Social Afternoon will take place in the Lake of Shadows Hotel on Saturday, 19th September from 12.45 - 6 p.m. This is the 10th year with Omagh friends.

Buncrana Youth Band will be performing and a five course lunch will be served and then a singalong and dance. The latest date for lunch tickets, which cost 10 euro is 16th September and they are available from Ozanam Shop, Cullen's, Cockhill, Gill's, Desertegney or telephone 9361666.

A Sponsored Walk in aid of the Residents' Comfort Fund, Nazareth House, will take place on 11th September at 6pm. This is an optional 6k or 10k, all walkers, joggers etc. welcome. Refreshments will be served afterwards in Nazareth House. Sponsor sheets available from Bradley's shop, Fahan, Nazareth House, or registration on the evening.

A bucket collection will be held in Buncrana today and tomorrow. All proceeds will go to the Inishowen Special Athletes and Cashel na Cor

Scoil Iosagain National School and Cockhill National School pupils return this Tuesday, 1st September with Cockhill opening at the new time of 9.30 a.m. The Illies National School re-opens on Monday, 31st August.

The Job Club Centre will be starting a new programme for job-seekers in Buncrana and Carndonagh in early September. This is a completely free confidential service for anyone who is currently looking for work, either part-time or full-time. If you have been out of the work place for a while then this is definately a course for you. We will help with interview tips and advice, help you put your best professional application through to employers and build your self confidence aswell. As part of heritage week there have been a number of guided walks through the village of Fahan. The tour includes St. Mura's Graveyard, Agnes Jones's grave, the graves of 78 Laurentic victims and Cecil F. Alexander's home. The event has been organised by the Fahan Community Council. Meet in the Car Park at St. Mura's old graveyard. The next walk will take place today from 11.30 a.m. – 1 p.m., tomorrow, 29th from 11.30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and the last walk will take place on Sunday, 30th from 7.30 – 9 p.m. Admission is free for all walks.

'The Wax Auction' - Local Garda, Rugby Players, Football Players and Plasterers ' from Inishowen will brave the pain to help raise vital funds for a local Charity. The event will take place tomorrow in Tully's Bar, Carndonagh in aid of Inishowen Children's Autism Related Education. What promises to be a great night of great craic and entertainment

Illies Golden Gloves - training has now resumed on Monday nights at 8 p.m. All welcome.

The Inishowen Country Market has recently made a change to the dates it operates in Buncrana. Instead of operating every other Saturday it now takes place every second and fourth Saturday at the usual time 2 – 3 p.m. This means that the market no longer needs to give out a schedule of dates, a quick look at your calendar will tell you if there's a market on. The Country Market now offers a wide variety of home made ready cooked meals, breads, jams, cakes, fresh eggs, local and organic vegetables, plants, crafts and greeting cards.

A Bric-a-Brac sale will take place in Loreto House, Linsfort on Sunday, from 2 – 5 p.m. All good quality items gratefully received.

Inishowen Partnership has recently become an ECDL accredited test centre and will offer The Inishowen Men's Helpline is now offering a Drop-In service on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. This is a confidential service providing information and support around issues affecting men living in the Inishowen area. The 40th Anniversary of Buncrana Youth Club and official opening of the new multi-purpose sports hall will take place on Sunday, 6th September at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Beginners Yoga commences on Tuesday 1st September at 6.30 p.m. Continuing Yoga at 8 p.m. and Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis resumes also on Tuesday 1st September in the Buncrana Leisure Centre at 12,15 p.m

Pilates classes will resume on Wednesday at 9 .30 a.m.

Introduction to Meditation is a six week course commencing on Wednesday 2nd September at 6 p.m.

The Pneumococcal (pcv) Vaccine Catch-up programme is currently being offered free of charge to children born between 2nd September, 2006 and 30th June, 2008.
