It was akin to the Susan Boyle moment on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Sandra Biddle from the Foyle School of Speech and Drama got the shock of her life when long time idol and star of the West End Colm Wilkinson walked into her class this week.

Irish Canadian Colm Wilkinson who is known best for his role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables was in the city on a short break after spending some time in Donegal. Quick thinking Paul Mason from the Millennium Forum grabbed a camera to capture the special moment.

“It was great,” said Sandra. “We met Colm as he was in the Piazza looking at some of the pictures on the wall. I couldn’t believe it when I saw him. I couldn’t speak. I’ve seen him in Les Miserables and Phantom in London.”

Colm listened to the children saying a poem and singing a song before going on his way again.
