Shots fired in Derry bookies

PSNI officers are investigating shots being fired in two bookmaker shops in the city last night.

It’s understood that the shots were fired in premises at Central Drive in Creggan and Racecourse Road in Shantallow.

Both incidents took place shortly before 8.30pm.

A masked man entered the Creggan bookmakers and fired one shot. Two masked men entered reportedly entered bookmakers at Racecourse Road and fired a number of shots before leaving.

There are no reports of any injuries but staff are reported to have been left badly shaken.

SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey said he had been told the men entered the shops and said they were from a republican group before shooting at poker machines.
