Step out and help the hospice
A memorial sponsored walk in memory of the late Bronagh McLaughlin, Glasha, from Carndonagh to Malin will take place this Sunday.
Sponsorship cards are available from Patricia Monagle, Priestown 086 6072780. All proceeds go to Donegal Hospice. This is your opportunity to help a very worthy cause, either by getting people to sponsor you or by sponsoring someone who is doing the walk. Your support is needed.
Millbrae Surgery – All women 25-60 are entitled to free Cervical Smears. After 1st September we will be unable to carry out your free smear test unless you have registered with Cervical Check, the National Screening Programme, and have received an invitation letter, this may take up to 6 months. Until 1st September we will continue to do free tests and you will then automatically be registered with the programme. We urge you to have your smear test done before then, especially if you are due a smear in 2009/2010. Clinics will run until the end of August. St. Patrick's Girls' & Boys' National Schools will welcome back pupils from the summer break on Tuesday 1st September 09.
Craigtown National School will reopen on Tuesday 1st September, parents please note that school lunches will not be available for a few days after the school opens.
Carndonagh Community School will reopen on Monday 31st for Careers Day, (compulsory for all fifth year pupils). First years on Tuesday September 1st, Third and fifth years Wednesday 2nd, Fourth and fourth LCA on Thursday 3rd, TY/VTY and PLC pupils on Monday 7th September.
The Post Leaving Certificate Department (PLC) is offering a course in Business Administration with Tourism in the academic year 09/10 (FETAC LEVEL 5). The course consists of modules in Administration, Word and Text Processing, Accounting, Spreadsheets, Databases, and Communications. Work placement in local business firms is also included. Inishowen Development Partnership are offering ECDL training on a part-time basis to unemployed people between the ages of 18-55. The ECDL is aimed at those who have basic computer knowledge and want to further their skills in the area of Information Technology (IT). The programme will run for 14 weeks and will involve a maximum commitment of two 3 hour sessions per week. Training will be held in the IDP offices in Buncrana and Carndonagh. The Job Club Centre will be starting a new programme for job-seekers in Buncrana and Carndonagh in early September. This is a completely free confidential service for anyone who is currently looking for work, either part-time or full-time. Carndonagh Vintage & Classic Car Club are holding their second Annual Vintage Rally at the Malin Road, Carndonagh on Sunday 6th September starting at 12 noon. Carn F.C under 10 players training has resumed in St Patrick's Park on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm. Anyone interested in helping out please give your name to any of the coaches - your help would be very much appreciated. Club membership for the 2009/10 season is now being taken by committee members. The cost is 20 euro for non-playing and students and 30 euro for playing members. Pre season training continues on Tuesday and Friday nights at 7:30 at St. Patrick's Park. Old and new players very welcome.
AGM of the Inishowen ladies Darts Will be held on Monday the 31 August 2009 in Mickie Mc Clures 9.30 sharp. 9 pm for outgoing committee please. Interested teams mush have Entry fee and at least 7 players to sign. League Confined to 16 teams. League will start on 9 September.
