Singing Sunderland superfan Dave Murray has penned another musical tribute to Derry soccer star James McClean.

‘James McClean, A Derry Son’ is the second song Dave - known as The Mackem Folk Singer - has wrote in homage to former Derry City star McLean and follows the You Tube success of his first song ‘Speedy James McClean”.

Dave says the Derry winger’s skills and passion for the game have made him a firm fan’s favourite since he left the Brandywell for Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.

“He really is the full package, he’s young, fast, skilled, hungry and passionate about his football.

“But most of all he wants to learn, and who better to have as a mentor than the great Martin O’Neill who will steer James into one of the best young wingers around. He doesn’t hold back, already this session he is scoring great goals.”

Dave’s song refers to the young Derry footballer as a “living legend now and loved by everyone. A true red and white until the day he’s gone.”

“Oh Derry City, you must be mighty proud,” enthuses the song’s chorus. You can check out the song on You Tube
