Teen left permanently scarred after 11th night bonfire assault
A teenage boy was left unconscious and permanently scarred after an 11th of July loyalist bonfire in Derry, it has emerged.
Police say the 15 year old male was attending an 11th night bonfire at a site near the disused Desmonds Factory in Drumahoe when he was assaulted at around 3am on Thursday July 12.
Details of the attack have only emerged this morning.
A PSNI spokeswoman said:”The victim was struck from behind, punched, kicked and knocked unconscious.
“Upon regaining consciousness, the victim saw four young males, one wearing an Adidas jacket, being pushed back by a man. Police are very keen to speak to this man who who came to the aid of the victim. He is described as being in his thirties, of muscular build, with dark spiky hair, wearing jeans.
“The victim sustained serious injuries which have resulted in permanent facial disfigurement and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.”
