Tonight's the night for big GAA bash
The night has finally arrived for the Buncrana GAA formal ball which will be held in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel this evening. The evening commences with a champagne reception starting at 6.45 p.m.
This is followed by a five course meal, with wine served during the meal. The entertainment will include a band and comedy from 'Big O'. There will be around 35 spot prizes which range from weekends away to paintings all to the value of 100 euro minimum. Everyone gets a goody bag which is worth approximately 60 euro. Then an auction will take place for a Chef for the night for eight people with food and wine - Two All Ireland tickets and a weekend in Dublin - Golf for four in the Slieve Russell Hotel and overnight stay and a painting from Buncrana's most famous artist, Daire Irwin. A weekend workshop, 'Greening with Life' will be held at the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, Linsfort from 23 - 25 May. Senior dance teachers from Holland, Noor McGuigan and Akbar Helweg will lead the workshop. The Inishowen Dev. Partnership is consulting with the community to ascertain public/community transport needs in the peninsula and to draw up an effective plan. A sponsored walk in aid of the Alan Doherty Fund will take place on Sunday May 18th at 3 p.m. The walk will leave St. Mary's Hall, Clonmany and proceed via Binion, Tullagh, Rusty Nail and back to the hall for refreshments. there is also a shorter walk available. Beach Hill Manor Private Nursing Home is holding a cake sale and coffee morning on 24th May from 10 a.m. - 12 noon in aid of their Residents' Comfort Fund. Your support would be appreciated.
Buncrana Senior Citizens' Commitee is urgently looking for voluntary drivers for the meals-on-wheels service. Meals are delivered on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Drivers are especially needed for Sundays. It only takes approximately an hour and a half and drivers are on an eight week rota system. Please contact Jim Henderson, 9361666

Children from Scoil Iosagain in Buncrana will present a concert to celebrate the many different nationalities within the school. Children from Ireland, Poland, Latvia, Bhutan, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Spain and many more will perform dances, songs and poems from their countries. All are welcome to join in the celebration which starts at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday 29th May
A Parish Mission will be held in all three churches by the Redemptorist Fathers. The Mission will begin on 17th - 24th May. All parishioners are invited to participate
James Kilbane will star in a concert to be held in St. Mary's Hall on Monday, 23th June at 8 p.m. All welcome. Please note the change of date.
A Table Quiz will be held in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel on Thursday, 15th May at 9 p.m. There will be a raffle and picture round on the night. Quizmaster is Liam Galbraith and all proceeds go to the Gateway Singers.
