Derry City Council has condemned an overnight act of vandalism in the South End stand in the Brandywell Stadium.

Leisure Services Manager, Jeff Ashe said that extensive damaged had been caused to the stand’s piping and toilet facilities.

“This is the latest in a number of sporadic acts of vandalism in the Brandywell Stadium. On this occasion significant damaged has been caused to the toilet facilities, however it is too early to determine what repair costs will be. Attacks of this nature are to be condemned, and we would appeal for anyone with any information to contact the PSNI.”

Sinn Féin councillor Patricia Logue has condemned the vandalism.

“It absolutely ridiculous that anyone would even contemplate attacking facilities at the stadium. Derry City Council will now be left with a hefty repair bill to fix this damage.

“I would urge anyone with information on who was responsible for this attack on the facilities to contact the police.”
