The local Chinese community put on a fantastic display of their culture at Derry’s Craft Village on Sunday, in a festival which signals the end of a two week long celebration to mark the start of the Chinese New Year.

Hundreds of people turned up on a crisp Sunday afternoon to see the many demonstrations which included a series of dances including the famous dragon dance, the fan dance and the ribbon dance.

Children in the crowd were encouraged to participate in the ribbon dance following instructions from Chinese dancers.

There were also demonstrations of martial arts and music using traditional instruments, as well as traditional Chinese cuisine available to try.
