Warning on more scams
Retail giant Tesco is warning shoppers in Derry to be on the look out for an online scam offering free supermarket vouchers.
In the Tesco scam, con artists are using social media site Facebook to catch out unsuspecting shoppers.
“Please do not click on Facebook pages or sites saying ‘You must share this page then type ‘Thanks Tesco’ as a comment,” a Tesco spokeswoman says.
“After you post your comment you will be redirected automatically to claim your voucher’. They are pretending to be Tesco and are nothing to do with us. They may be trying to rip off either you or your information.”
Meanwhile the PSNI are urging people to be vigilant against all types of scams.
Last Tuesday a man approached a member of the public in Foyle Street offering a number of laptops, iPhones, and iPads for sale.
The man handed over a sum of money for the items and was handed a laptop case holding only two bottles of water. The car then made off.
” a police spokeswoman says.
