White snake rocks Derry

It's not the 80s rock band but an albino snake that's been causing quite a stir in the city this week.

The distinctive white snake has been slithering its way around several shops in Derry.

On Monday the reptile was spotted at a Rosemount Avenue chemist while a 'snake eyed' shokeeper spotted the creature at nearby Park Avenue yesterday.

And it was a case of 'Here I Go Again On My Own' when the white snake yesterday posed for picture on a visit to Patrick McGill's corner shop on Park Avenue.

Mr McGill said his brother Bernard found the snake on the pavement and brought it inside.

"This snake has been the talk of the area, local children have been coming in to have a look at it," he said.

It's believed that it was the same snake that turned up at Clear Pharmacy on Rosemount Avenue earlier this week.

Sharon Box from the pharmacist said: "Two fellas spied him and the minute we tried to get hold of him he was gone. He went behind the household cleaning products and stayed there."

It's understood that the shopaholic snake - exhausted from its tour - is now in the safe hands of a reptile expert.
