SDLP Derry city councillor Anne Donnelly has expressed concern that low paid education support staff in Derry, and across the north are still waiting for a one per cent pay rise to be implemented.
Colr. Donnelly said: “Staff of the five education boards across the north were informed last April they would be getting a 1% increase in pay. It may not seem like a lot but, when you look at it over the long term, it really adds up and amounts to a substantial sum.
“From what I understand the increase is being delayed because it has not been signed off on. I will be seeking clarity to urgently resolve this situation, which I understand affects thousands of workers across the north.
“It’s ridiculous to think 12 months on and workers are still waiting for a pay rise to come into effect.”
