Dungiven X Factor star Eoghan Quigg has landed a lucrative record deal with a major music company, the Journal can reveal.
The 16-year-old who was placed third in the ITV hit talent show heard the excting news yesterday.
While there are few details at the moment the teen is "content" to have achieved his goal of landing a recording contract.
On his way to play five gigs in the Republic today, Eoghan said he was "over the moon" to be making an album.
Proud dad Chrissie confirmed that Eoghan received the dream news on Thursday.
"This was the main objective, to get a career in music regardless of whether he won the X Factor or not. It's the icing on the cake."
Chrissie added: "The work only starts now. We just thank everyone for their support and hopefully we can pay them back in the future with some good music."
A press conference next week is expected to reveal further details of what's in store for Eoghan who returned to classes at St Patrick's College in Dungiven earlier this week.
It now looks like the schoolboy singing sensation will be hopping back out of the classroom and into the recording studio.
Next month he is also set to join the X Factor tour across more than 20 UK towns and cities with the show's other top performers.
It is understood that Eoghan will possibly be signing to the RCA label which comes under the Sony umbrella and represents some of the world's top music stars.
