Gardaí investigating a fatal house fire which occurred at Carnmalin, Malin Head, Co Donegal have appealed for witnesses.
The blaze was discovered shortly after midnight on Saturday 1st November 2014. Emergency services responded to a call at this location.
A Garda spokesman said: “The house was completely destroyed. The body of a male in his 40s was recovered from the house, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The scene remains preserved pending a Garda technical examination. Investigations are continuing. The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified. A post mortem is to be arranged. The body remains at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.
“There was serious damage caused to the house. The scene remains preserved pending a Garda technical examination. Investigations are continuing.”
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who were in the Carnmalin/Malin Head area between the hours of 8pm and midnight on Friday 31st October 2014, to contact them at Buncrana Garda Station on 074 9320540, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
