Man and woman released on bail following Limavady assault

A man and woman have been released on police bail following their arrests in connection with an assault on a man in his thirties on Saturday morning in Limavady.

The man, aged 26, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and a woman aged 28 was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.

Both were later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police appealed for witnesses to the assault, which occurred in an area between Anderson Park and Drumachose Park at around 7.30am on Saturday, October 10th.

The man sustained a number of injuries, none which are believed to be life threatening, said police.

Sergeant Jonathan Fawcett said: “At this time we believe three males and a female may have been involved in the attack and that at least one of the assailants was armed with a baseball bat. Anyone with information that could assist our investigation can contact police on 101.”

Police say they are working to establish a motive for the attack.
