Man arrested in Derry over death of Glasgow man Derek Sheerin

A 39 year-old man was arrested in Derry this morning as part of an investigation into the murder of a man in Glasgow 21 years ago.

The man was arrested by officers from Police Scotland assisted by detectives from PSNI Serious Crime Branch in relation to the death of Derek Sheerin who was found dead in the east end of Glasgow in September 1994.

The suspect has been taken to Glasgow for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey from Serious Crime Branch has appealed to people in Derry who have any information about the murder to contact detectives at Maydown using the non-emergency number 101, or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
