Man arrested in ongoing explosivesinvestigation

The PSNI Organised Crime Branch have revealed they arrested a man in Derry this morning in connection with an ongoing investigation into serious offences including possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition in suspicious circumstances, as well as the supply of class A and B controlled drugs.

This morning’s arrest was connected to a search conducted in the city last December which involved the seizure of two Yugoslavian military origin high explosive hand grenades, a machine gun, two handguns, a quantity of ammunition plus Class A and B controlled drugs, namely ecstasy and methadrone with a potential street value of £20k.

The 27 year old man was arrested in the Meadowbank Court area of the city and remains in police custody at present.
