Man arrested over failed Eglinton bomb released

The 57 year-old man arrested in connected with the failed booby-trap bomb attack on police officers in Eglinton has been released.
The 57 year-old man arrested in connected with the failed booby-trap bomb attack on police officers in Eglinton has been released.

A 57 year-old man who was arrested by detectives from Serious Crime Branch, investigating an under vehicle improvised explosive device in Eglinton on Thursday June 18, has been released unconditionally.

The device had been left under the car of a serving PSNI officer who lives with his wife, who is also in the PSNI, in Eglinton village just outside Derry.

The incident was described by the PSNI as a “clear attempt to murder”.
