A man has been arrested in connection with an attempted double bomb attack in Derry.
The 40 year-old was arrested by detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the foiled bomb attacks near Derry City Council offices in September last year.
This morning’s arrest in County Antrim followed the release yesterday of CCTV footage of a man police believe was behind the attempted bomb attacks.
He is being questioned at Antrim Serious Crime Suite.
Two devices were discovered close to Derry City Council offices at Strand Road on September 20 last year. A Foyle Search and Rescue volunteer found a rucksack which contained a pipe bomb along the river bank. Shortly afterwards police called to the scene discovered a second device which was attached to a bicycle chained to an embankment railing.
