Man charged in connection with Christ Church break-in

A man's been charged with burglary and criminal damage following a break-in at Christ Church last month.

Vandals who broke into a Londonderry church have smashed windows and damaged an organ reputed to be one of the most beautiful in Ireland.

The break-in at Christ Church on Infirmary Road was discovered late on Tuesday.

A decanter used in Holy Communion services was also stolen.

Police have yet to establish a motive for the attack, which the Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, the Right Rev Ken Good, has described as "sacrilege".Wednesday 13th September 2017

The PSNI announced the development this morning, stating: “A 22-year-old man has been charged to Limavady Magistrate’s Court this morning charged with burglary and criminal damage to Christ Church in the city last month.”

A second male remains in custody.
