Man dies following Glenshane Road crash

Police have confirmed that one man has died following a two vehicle road traffic incident that occurred on the Glenshane Road, near the Belfray Inn, earlier today. The man has been named as 83-year-old William Stinson and was from Derry.

A police spokesperson said: “The road traffic incident occurred at approximately 11:15am and involved a BMW X1 and Chevrolet. A female also involved in the incident was treated for non life-threatening injuries. The Glenshane Road remains closed near to licenced premises and diversions are in place at the Lismacarroll Road and the Tamnaherin Road.

“Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the road traffic incident or who was travelling in the area at the time to contact Strand Road Police Station or the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station on 0845 600 8000.”
