Man faces station bomb blast charges

A 22 year-old man has been charged in connection with a car bomb attack on Strand Road PSNI station in Derry in August last year.

He is charged with causing an explosion, possessing explosives with intent to endanger life, hijacking, false imprisonment, possession of a gun and membership of a proscribed organisation.

The accused will appear at Derry Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

The charges are connected to the 200lb car bomb attack on the police station on August 2, 2010, carried out by dissident republicans.

glaigh na h'ireann claimed responsibility for the attack, which damaged a number of local businesses and injured a police officer.
