A man has died following a road traffic collision on Clooney Road in Derry.

The man, in his 40s, died following the two vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at 12.50am on Sunday.

A man and a woman, both aged in her 50s, were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Inspector Smyth said: “The road traffic collision involved a silver Ford Ka and a grey Peugeot 308. I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the cars in the area to contact Strand Road Police Station or the Collision Investigation Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 70 of 04/09/16.”

The Clooney Road has re-opened to traffic.
