A man injured in a gun attack in Derry’s Waterside was “shot by appointment”, a DUP MLA has said.
The 32-year-old was shot in both legs at Lincoln Courts on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at around 11.30pm.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Waterside MLA William Hay said the man was ordered to go to a playpark before being shot.
“It almost mirrors what dissident republicans have been doing on the Cityside, when young people are almost being ordered to come to a particular area where the shooting takes place,” he said.
“This is the first time that we’ve had an incident of this nature in the Waterside area.”
Police in the city are appealing for information.
