Man taken to hospital after two vehicle smash in Strathfoyle

A man was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital after a two vehicle road traffic collision in Strathfoyle on Wednesday morning.

The incident, which took place on the Port Road, involved a taxi and a lorry and was first reported to the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) at 8:16a.m.

Three fire appliances from Crescent Link Fire Station were deployed to the scene.

One man in the taxi was rescued by fire-fighters using cutting equipment, with another man assessed at the scene.

One man in the lorry was also treated at the scene by personnel from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

The man rescued from the taxi was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.

NIFRS finished at the scene at 8:58am.
