The former G District Commander Stephen Martin has been formally confirmed as assistant chief constable following his temporary promotion to the post last year.
ACC Martin leads the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s operational support department and with 28 years’ service he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role.
Most recently Stephen, in his role as chief superintendent, was district commander in the North West with responsibility for the Foyle, Limavady, Strabane and Magherafelt areas.
Having initially served as a constable in Derry he returned to the city 17 years later to lead the policing operation for City of Culture in 2013.
Following his appointment, ACC Martin stated: “The Chief Constable has clearly set out his vision of policing for Northern Ireland and it is a vision I share and have sought to promote throughout my policing career.”
