Sinn Fein, Derry Councillor, Elisha McCallion, said she is delighted at the increase in provision of services for young people in the greater Galliagh and Shantallow areas.

Colr. McCallion described the new list of schemes as ‘extensive’ and encouraged local parents to avail of them.

“The list of available scheme is quite extensive including Leafair, Carnhill, Shantallow, Shantallow Community Centre, Lenamore Youth Club, Off the Streets, the Red Shirts, the Rainbow Child and Family Centre. There is also a six week programme at the Templemore Sports Complex.

“Some of these schemes operate at low cost, some starting for as little as 50p a day. I would encourage parents to check out what is available in their area. These schemes are invaluable throughout the summer months and do invaluable work in local communities,” she said.
