Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney has welcomed the extension of the Warm Homes Scheme until March 2015 and has urged maximum take-up by those who are eligible.
Mr McCartney encouraged people to apply for the scheme as they could be eligible for support with their heating.
“The Warm Homes Scheme is designed to assist those who qualify to properly insulate and draught-proof their homes. Applicants who could be eligible for assistance with cavity wall, loft insulation or water tank jackets etc will be assessed on a first-come first-served basis.
“Those with Economy 7, Solid Fuel, bottled gas/LPG heating system or no heating at all could qualify for major installation of a fully controlled energy efficient oil or gas central heating system where no system currently exists or conversion to oil or natural gas.
“The Warm Homes Scheme is available to people who own their own home or are a private tenant and the householder is in receipt qualifying benefits or tax credits
