Sinn Féin MLA, Maeve McLaughlin, this week travelled to Glasgow on a fact-finding mission to explore the impact of Healthy Living Centres on health inequalities in Scotland.
Maeve, who is the Chair of the Health Committee, will be accompanied by six representatives of the local Healthy Living Centre Alliance who wish to learn from the experiences of their Scottish cousins.
Speaking to the Journal from Scotland she said:
“I am looking forward to this two-day visit where we will meet representatives of Scottish Communities for Health and Wellbeing, the Scottish Community Development Centre and the Scottish Health Department. Most of the visit will be hosted by Healthy Living Centres based in and around Glasgow, places where health inequalities are most acutely felt.
“In my view Scotland has made positive connections between government, community organisations and residents living with health inequalities which we can learn from here.”
