Two Meath men charged with possession of explosives and conspiracy to cause an explosion in connection with an attempted bomb attack at the Waterfoot Hotel, appeared at Derry Magistrates’ Court a year to the day after the incident in which they are allege to have been involved, yesterday.

Darren Poleon (42), of Lightown, Drumbaragh Kells, and Brian Walsh (35) of Culmullen, Drumree Dunshaughlin, were returned for trial on a date-to-be-fixed by District Judge Barney McElholm.

At the preliminary enquiry both defendants said they had no witnesses to call, nor any thing to say, at this stage.

A PPS spokesperson said there was a prima facie case to answer.

They were both granted two counsel each due to the complexity of the case.
