Derry men will squeeze into high heels and walk along the quay this Saturday to raise money for cancer charity, MacMillan.
The unique event has been organised by the Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank Community Partnership (BHCP), working with other groups in the area, and will see local men walking along the quay in high heels on Saturday afternoon.
Billy Page from BHCP said dozens of local men have already signed up for the challenge. “We wanted to do something during March to raise funds to support the fantastic work carried out by MacMillan throughout the Ballymagroarty area and across the city.
“We wanted to do something fun so we decided to do the walk in high heels along the riverside in support of MacMillan’s ‘Walk A Mile In Their Shoes’ project. So far the response has been fantastic and we have had many local groups signing up, from other community groups in the area to the Rainbow Project,” he said.
Mr Page called on local people to come along on Saturday and support the walkers. “It promises to be a fun event and I know that people men have been practising in their houses across Ballymagraorty for the last couple of weeks so it would be great of people could come along on Saturday and support us,” he said. The walk will begin from Sainsbury’s car park at 1pm on Saturday, March 29.
