Education Minister John O’Dowd visited the Lenamore Youth Centre premises in Derry last week to see its new range of services.
The facility has recently expanded its operations with extended opening hours and an increase in the number of young people from the area using the facility.
The Minister was shown around the youth facility by staff from the Western Education and Library Board, local Sinn Féin councillor Elisha McCallion, and election cadidate for the area, Sandra Duffy.
The colr. had previously called for longer opening hours at the youth club. “Last year additional money ws put into the youth sector for extended provision of services and Lenamore Youth Club benefited from that.
“That saw the youth club going from a part time basis where it was open two days a week, to being open seven evenings a week now, where was obviously a welcome development for the area,” she said.
