Family and friends of missing teenager Kieran McKeon joined rescue workers in a large scale search of the river Foyle at the weekend.
Kieran McKeon went missing along with fellow Dubliner Alexandra O’Brien (21), whose body was recovered from the river on Thursday, March 14. The search is also being conducted for the body of a second, as yet unidentified, male who is believed to have plunged from Foyle bridge a week ago.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said Kieran’s family “expressed their sincere appreciation to all the agencies involved in the search to date”.
They joined more than 60 volunteers in a massive cross border search of the river. Saturday’s major air, land and water search operation led by Foyle Search and Rescue was aided by the Irish Coast Guard and Maiden City Sub Aqua Club and members of the public.
On Sunday, the search of the Foyle was hampered by high winds and had to be postponed in the afternoon. The search is ongoing today.
Craig Smith, of Foyle Search and Rescue, said: “We are still looking for two people and we will continue to search.”
