Missing American tourist Kelly Katherine Jones (42), who’s been missing in the Glencolumbkille area of south-west Donegal since Saturday, has been found alive by searchers.
Fears had been growing for her safety but she was found in a disused rectory on the outskirts of the village. She is reported to be “weak and disorientated” and is believed to be suffering from hypothermia. She has been airlifted Sligo General Hospital.
She was found by local volunteers who had been searching for her with the Gardai. The search party included the Donegal and Sligo/Leitrim Montain Rescue teams, the Killybegs Coast Guard and the Sliabh League Walkers.
From Georgia, Ms Jones is a hill-walking and hiking enthusiast. She had been staying at the Malinmore Adventure Centre, a hostel not far from Glencolmcille.
Dozens of personnel and local volunteers had searched by land, sea and air in an attempt to find her as her worried father made arrangements to travel to Ireland.
