The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) says it’s aware a former soldier has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the events of Bloody Sunday.

A spokesperson said: “We are aware an ex-soldier has been arrested by the Police Service of Northern Ireland in connection with their investigation into the events of Bloody Sunday.

“It would be inappropriate to comment further on an ongoing criminal investigation at this stage.”

Police have confirmed that a 66-year-old former Parachute Regiment soldier was arrested in County Antrim this morning and is being questioned at a PSNI station in Belfast.
