Stand up comedy is experiencing some what of a rebirth in Derry these days, and with this in mind two local comedians have pushed the boundaries one step further and have created their very own panel show featuring the best in local comedic talent.

“The Movie Quiz” is a must see for anyone who is a fan of such shows as ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ or ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ and is the brainchild of Peter E Davidson and Peter McDonald.

Peter E Davidson explained: “Teams of local stand up comedians will battle it out over everything and anything to do with the world of celluloid.

“But don’t worry if you’re not clued up on all things cinema, a lot of the contestants won’t have a clue what they’re talking about either. They will however keep you highly entertained as they speculate, guess and wildly flail at wrong answers.”

The Movie Quiz has lined up some of the best local comics, all under one roof, to act as quiz show panellists. Contestants include Masons regular MC and star of ‘BBC’s LOL’ and ‘Find Me the Funny’ Micky Bartlett. Also joining him will be Colin Geddis, better known as the internet phenomenon ‘Barry the Blender Henderson’ from ‘I Am Fighter.’

There is also have a fine selection of Masons open mic competition winners including Kilkenny Cat Laughs finalist Bobby Best, Love the Concept’s James Lecky, Kevin McAleer opener Julie Lecky, the great Ciaran Bartlett and musical sensation Ray McCrossan and Gerry McBride.

The show is being recorded as a live podcast which will be released online and will also be available on iTunes later this year.

Peter added: “There will also be a series of spot prizes and competitions throughout the night to keep the audience on their toes.

“Not only will the comedians be attempting to win but the audience will be in with a chance of winning tickets to various events throughout the Big Tickle festival.

Admission is £5 and the quiz will kick off at 8pm in the Playhouse, tomorrow night, Wednesday.
