The Mayor of Buncrana admitted he was moved by the number of people who turned out to support him and the Mayor’s Ball on Friday night.
Colr Nicholas Crossan said he really enjoyed himself and thanked every individual who turned up at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel.
Speaking to the ‘Journal’ yesterday the Buncrana man said it was a fantastic night all round.
“The dance floor didn’t empty,” explained the Mayor. “We all had a great night all round and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves. The James Peak experience did a great job entertaining people all night playing everything from country music to Pavarotti.”
With just five weeks left with the title as Mayor, Colr Crossan admitted it had been a “busy” and “eventful” year.
“My time as Mayor has really flown by but it was very moving to see so many people supporting the Ball. We had people from London, Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Antrim, you name it. Friends of both myself and my wife’s from way back made a great effort to come to the event and it was lovely.”
As well as Town Councillors, and county Councillors, John Dallat MLA also made an appearance to support the Buncrana Mayor.
“John is a friend of a friend and it was great to see him on the night. He really enjoyed himself and it made it special to see him again.”
As well as thanking everyone who came to the Ball, Colr Crossan couldn’t praise the hotel and their staff enough.
“The service at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel was second to none on the night itself, they really pulled out all the stops for us. I really appreciate it.”
He added: “All the money will now be divided to local charities around Buncrana and Inishowen so I’m looking forward to getting all the money in and counted so we can give it out. It’s nice to support the good causes when we can.”
As well as the main event on the night, there was also another big announcement for the An Post RAS Queen.
“The An Post Cycle Race comes to Inishowen at the end of May so Lisa McLaughlin will be representing the peninsula as the RAS Queen. She had a lot of support with her on the night so it will be great for her,”
And finally, ever the charmer, the Buncrana Mayor had to give one final one of praise.
“I have to say all the ladies on the night looked brilliant. There style was second to none and you wouldn’t see the likes of it in Milan.
“I think all the hairdressers and beauticians in Buncrana were busy all day, so its good their businesses got a wee extra boost,” concluded Colr Crossan.
