Moving tributes paid to Charlene

Tributes have been paid to the beautiful Charlene Griffiths who sadly lost her battle with illness in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Derry woman, a much respected teacher and athlete was loved in many circles across the city where she was committed to both sport and the education of young people.

She was a well known Gaelic football player, and taught gymnastics and cheerleading at several clubs in the city.

Charlene was also the fiancee of ‘Journal’ sports reporter Simon Collins.

She passed away peacefully in Altnagelvin Hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Yesterday friends paid tribute to Charlene describing her as a “lovely person.”

Another said: ”Charlene may be gone but will never be forgotten.”

One close friend posted on social networking site Facebook - Love you forever Charlene.

The Derry woman’s funeral will take place on Tuesday morning at 9.30a.m. at St Brigid’s Church Carnhill.

Charlene is survived by parents Eugene and Majella, brothers and sisters Michelle, Eugene and Sinéad, and fiancée Simon Collins.

She was also the loving aunt of Amber, Leighea and Eoghan.
