New housing complex opens at Gransha site

The 16 flat complex has been named Holly Lane, and accommodation consists of self-contained single flats, each with a bedroom, living room/ kitchen, toilet and shower, aimed at helping to maximise privacy and dignity.

The new complex within Gransha Park also has a communal area as a shared space, with an attached quiet room to promote social integration and a sense of community.

George Walker, Holly Lane Manager said: “Each tenant will be able to individually furnish their accommodation and for some it will be the first time they have had their own address. Holly Lane aims to offer an enhanced quality of life, where clients can enjoy both their independence and on-site support from suitably qualified, experienced and skilled Western Trust staff on a 24 hour basis.”

Director of Adult Mental Health and Disability, Trevor Millar said: “Holly Lane is an innovative housing concept; it will provide flexible, sustainable and future proofed housing which will afford individuals with varying degrees of mental illness appropriate accommodation optimising potential for independence and community living.

“Tenants of Holly Lane will be provided with accommodation which is spacious enough to facilitate visits from family members and friends and set within an environment that is conducive to recovery.”
