A new Italian style restaurant will create up to 10 new jobs when it opens for the first time in July.
The restaurant is called ‘Spaghetti Junction’ and will be located near the junction between Rossville Street and William Street.
Derry woman, Alison Canney and partner, Aldo Magnifico from Villarosa in Sicily own the restaurant.
Aldo is an architect and has designed the interior of the restaurant and leading the way in the kitchen is an award winning chef from the Italian region of Tuscany.
“We are really excited,” Alison told the ‘Journal’. “It’s always been Aldo’s dream to open a restaurant and we are hoping to open the doors by mid-July. Aldo has designed the restaurant so that it reflects the feel of an old Italian Square.”
The restaurant will designed like an authentic Italian trattoria and will have a state of the art stone bake oven.
The restaurant’s application for an alcohol licence is currently being considered
Spaghetti Junction is located in one of Derry’s tourism hotspots and will specialise in other traditional Italian cuisine such pasta dishes, meat dishes, pizzas and desserts.
“The restaurant is going to be all about good food and very affordable prices,” said Alison.
“It will operate as a cafe/ pâtisserie during the day and in the evenings it will be the restaurant.
“Hopefully people will see this as a good news story for Derry and when our doors open people will come and try out our food,” added Alison.
