The King Arthur Opera will be staged at Christ Church in Derry later this month.

An outstanding new opera will come to Derry this month entertaining crowds at the atmospheric Christ Church on Northland Road.

Inspired by David Jones’ WW1 prose-poem In Parenthesis (‘a work of genius’, T S Eliot), the production is described as vivid, moving and beautiful and brings together ancient questions of King Arthur and The Matter of Britain with Purcell’s rich and passionate score and the trenches of the Somme. This production uses real letters from the front as its inspiration.

Using dance, drama, poetry, and a new libretto by Thomas Guthrie, Sestina will be joined by an ensemble of world class players on original baroque instruments.

The Opera will take place on Saturday April 26 at 7:30pm with a pre-performance talk at 6:00pm. Tickets are £10.00 and £7.50 and are available on the door or in advance from the Millennium Forum box office
