There’ll be no music on Buncrana Main Street this weekend as the festival won’t go ahead for the first time in three years.
The festival traditionally took place on the weekend of July 12th.
In May, Festival committee members Councillor Nicholas Crossan and Paddy Henderson had earlier pleaded for immediate financial support, stating the future of the festival was in doubt.
Colr Crossan told how major sponsorship had been reduced and there had also been an increase in expenses, meaning the financial burden was “too much.”
Colr Crossan said the response to the plea was “limited” and as a result, there will be no Buncrana Music Festival in its previous format this weekend.
Colr Crossan said while this was “disappointing” he hoped it wouldn’t be the last time they’d see the event in Buncrana.
The festival comprised live music on the main street as well as day events, including the popular dog show on the shore front.
