The CEO of the Nazareth House in Fahan has told the ‘Journal’ he cannot comment on media reports over the future of staff jobs or resident beds until a tribunal ruling.
Media reports over the weekend suggested Mr John O’Mahony CEO told the tribunal hearing the Inishowen nursing unit was not viable and there were fears for 70 jobs.
Speaking yesterday, Mr John O’Mahony said the report arose as a result of an appeal by them, the employer, regarding the Labour Relation Commission’s determinations to the Employment Appeals Tribunal.
He said: “The court hearing was held last Thursday, 17th July in relation to a claim by a number of staff that the Employer – Nazareth House Fahan- was in breach of their rights and entitlements under the Wages Act. The ruling of the EAT will be known in four to six weeks and I cannot comment any further.
