No decision has been taken on whether plans to build a home for alcoholics in the former Nazareth House home in Bishop Street will go ahead, the Journal’ can reveal.

A spokesperson from Oaklee Trinity confirmed that no meeting has yet been held between OakleeTrinity, Depaul Ireland and the Housing Executive regarding Nazareth House and therefore “no decision has been made regarding the plans for the supported living scheme.”

Last week hundreds of local residents attended a public meeting where they voiced their objections to the plans.

It is anticipated a decision on the development will be made within a matter of weeks.
