Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan has said money must be found to resurface a busy access route to hundreds of homes off Buncrana Road.

Councillor Hassan said work taking place around an electricity substation have had a major impact on residents trying to access their homes in Upper and Lower Galliagh Road,Woodbrook and the Pinetrees.

He said: “I have received numerous complaints from residents about the terrible state of the roadway and the need for it to be resurfaced.

“During discussions with Transport NI I have been told there is no money to sort out the roadway. I find this totally unacceptable , hundreds of people travel in and out of this area on a daily basis. It’s a link road to one of the busiest arterial routes between Derry and Donegal and cannot be left in this state or just looked at for patch work.”
