Noise complaints in the Limavady district council area between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2015 dropped by 20 per cent, according to a report by the Department of the Environment.

The report, Noise Complaint Statistics for Northern Ireland 2014/15, finds domestic noise remains the largest cause of noise complaints across Northern Ireland.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: “Noise is a very real problem and should not be underestimated.”

The report finds the second largest contributor to noise complaints to be commercial and leisure premises with noise from entertainment premises accounting for over half of the complaints in this category.

In 2015, noise in the street represented 5% of noise complaints with industrial and construction noise complaints each accounting for 2% of total complaints received.
