Budding fashionistas are being given the chance to create a unique project from their old worn bits of denim at a special event on culture night.
As part of the worldwide celebration of all things cultural, the city’s Culture Night programme is set to host a special workshop for budding fashionistas in the city.
Organised by Derry’s champion of local fashion, avid customizer Joe Carlin and his project partner Mags Magill will host the NuBlu Denim Regeneration masterclass from 4 – 7pm on the afternoon of Friday 21st September. He explained,
“The Craft Village’s Thatched Cottage will become a hive of creativity on Culture Night for those young people with a keen eye and interest in fashion.
“The masterclass is aimed at 14 – 17 yr olds and all we ask is that they bring along an existing piece of denim from their wardrobe. There should be absolutely no need to purchase something especially for the workshop.
“Participants will hear about the practical aspects to revamping old and worn clothes, particularly relevant in these lean times, through learning the technical skills to compliment their own inner creativity to create something fabulous from something exhausted.”
“All new creations will be displayed in the Craft Village later that evening, linking in with the glitz and glamour that will be the ‘Catwalk Off The Walls’ in the Craft Village fashion extravaganza.”
Participation is free however spaces are limited so please contact Joe Carlin on07864965733 for more information.
Culture Night will take place on Friday 21st September, hosting a night of entertainment, discovery and adventure at numerous events in the City.
