For the hundreds involved it was a day none of them will ever forget.
Almost 800 women (and a few men) packed Guildhall Square on Saturday donning wedding frocks and veils to set a bizarre world record in this Derry’s year of culture.
Never before have so many brides been in the one place.
And a film crew from the ‘The One Show’ were even on hand to capture the event.
Old and young, men and women gathered in the square to set the record for the largest gathering of brides in a single location.
And it was all to raise money for the Foyle Hospice.
Rachel Bruce of the Foyle Hospice said she was “overwhelmed” by the support they received on the day.
“We had almost 800 brides there,” she said. “It was such a great event. The women had so many stories not only about their weddings and their dresses, but about their relationship with the hospice.
“And thankfully we had the weather - it was just fantastic, we couldn’t have asked for better.”
