Buncrana’s Lough Swilly Lifeboat members enjoyed an escort with a difference on Tuesday when a pod of dolphins joined in their training session.
The RNLI crew marvelled as the friendly mammals swam and breached the water alongside their boat while training in the Swilly.
Paddy Murphy, who caught the spectacular sight on camera, said “It was an amazing sight. We saw one jumping and the next thing there were about right of them around the boat.
“We’ve seen them before, in the last few years we’ve seen porpoises around but never seen dolphins swimming so close to the boat. They were leaping out of the water.”
