The first ever LegenDerry Zombie Walk - to raise funds for a leading cancer charity - will take place in the city on Saturday, October 6.
So what exactly is a zombie walk? Well, it’s a sponsored walk dressed as…. yes, you guessed it - a zombie.
Tickets for the walk are £5 and all sponsorship raised is in aid of the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund For Children (NICFC).
Event manager, Gina Doherty, explained: “The LegenDerry Zombie Walk is an such an exciting event to bring to the city. It fits in perfectly with the vibrant and alternative culture that is already thriving in Derry.
“The event, which we aim to hold annually, is a great way to start the lead-up to the Hallowe’en festival. And with the City of Culture coming up next year, it will give us the opportunity to make the zombie invasion bigger and better.”
Participants in the event are advised to gather at Ebrington Square from 7pm to check registration details etc., with the walk commencing at 7.30 pm.
Gina Doherty added: “The walk will set off from Ebrington Square, crossing the iconic Peace Bridge, invading the famous City Walls and finishing at Bound For Boston, Waterloo Street, for the zombie after-party.
“There will be plenty of fun and festivities to be had on the night including the coveted best dressed zombie award and great live music from local bands such as Libidoswitch, Zero Point Zero, Proxist, Mourning Of The Heretic (MOTH), plus special guest DJ appearances from Mickey McGonagle and Alana McLaughlin.”
Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from Trash (Waterloo Street, Derry), Art of Damage (Market Street, Limavady), Darkstar Tattoo (Blindgate Street, Coleraine) or, alternatively, by contacting Gina Doherty on 07845518834.
